Sustainability

We advocate responsible design by implementing ideas, methods, and technology for the wellness of people, their habitats and our planet, designing solutions that provide for the present and build the future.

Sustainable Design

This design team has long advocated for sustainable design and promotes smart design for healthy buildings, healthy lives, and reduced energy consumption. Our goal with every building is to balance day one capital expenditures with long term operating expenses.

To this end, PRAXIS3 utilizes a software called cove.tool, a BIM plug-in application that allows us to assess real time performance characteristics such as energy use, water use, embodied carbon, access to natural daylight, etc., as the concepts are being developed. cove.tool allows us to better understand the first-cost implications as well as the life-cycle-cost implications of various design decisions as they arise, allowing us to optimize the building’s design to match the clients desire for sustainability, performance, user-health, and most importantly, cost.

This team has designed numerous LEED-certified buildings, as well as Earthcraft and National Green Building Standard buildings.

Well Certification

Energy efficiency is a key component of managing operating costs and addressing climate demands, and our approach pairs performance with a strong focus on occupant health. PRAXIS3 has direct experience delivering healthy, wellness-oriented environments, including our own office, which is WELL Certified™ Silver through the International WELL Building Institute. WELL Certification evaluates buildings across ten categories: air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind, and community. This firsthand experience with wellness certification, combined with our broader sustainability work, equips our team to integrate health-focused strategies into any project and support clients pursuing comparable goals.
