Atlanta Falcons: Junior Achievement – Biztown

Location Atlanta, GA Client Junior Achievement of Georgia

Metro Atlanta has joined communities across the nation in the movement to incorporate financial literacy education and 21st-century skills development as components of the core curriculum. The Junior Achievement (JA) of Georgia program is taking this one step further providing 6th to 8th-grade students the opportunity to not only learn about finances and careers but for one day to transform into adults, becoming a leader in his or her household and town. The Junior Achievement created over 75,000 square feet interior Town Centers, JA-Biztown and JA-Finance Park, that simulate a city streetscape with over 50 business offerings. Each of these areas creates a unique opportunity where students are able to interact within a simulated macro-economy, and take on the role of employee, taxpayer, and consumer.

During the visit to JA-BizTown and the Atlanta Falcons space Jason Summers created, students receive unique job assignments and work in teams. The space is an inviting 225 square feet and has an area for selling season tickets to other business and promoting the Atlanta Falcons fan experience. By the end of the simulation, each student completes a day’s work, develops a personal budget, deposits a paycheck at the bank and makes purchasing decisions for the Atlanta Falcons organization.

This project was executed by Jason Summers while employed with another design firm.
