PROJECT DESCRIPTION

LP3 / Praxis3 recently received the 2015 Preservation Award for Excellence in Sustainable Rehabilitation from The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation. This award was for the Jackson Street Building of the University of Georgia’s College of Environment and Design. Praxis3’s sister firm, LP3 was the architect for this consolidation of the CED’s multiple campus locations into the former Lamar Dodd College of Art. Constructed in 1962 and designed by seminal Atlanta modernist Joe Amisano, this landmark building was repurposed to provide new, state-of-the art design studios, classrooms, lecture halls, and administrative / faculty offices. Conservation and rehabilitation of the building included the careful insertion of advanced chilled beam and water recycling systems, achieving LEED Gold sustainability and helping to exemplify the mission of UGA’s College of Environment and Design.
