The overall impression of Atlanta’s new Poncey-Highland restaurant, Lazy Betty, is a chef-driven concept that combines hospitality with a luxurious tasting menu. Owner and Chef, Ron Hsu, is coming back to Atlanta from New York’s acclaimed Michelin 3-star restaurant, Le Bernardin, and naming his new restaurant after his mother, Betty, to whom he attributes all of his culinary passion. Lazy Betty presents an exceptional dining experience of several-generations honed family recipes with an open kitchen concept while bringing out iconic settings vividly through the use of private and communal areas.

This upscale but relaxed open concept became the central theme of the interior design approach including elements such as banquet seating in the dining room, a bar, a section for private accommodation and events, and a five-seat chef’s counter where diners can watch Chef Ron in action. Eclectic choices of materials and furniture in the restaurant include light and dark wood tones, select chairs to provide comfort for long periods of time, live edge table tops, exposed brick, unique graphic floor tile, and a custom built armoire to showcase artwork and the family’s mortar and pestle collection which all tie back to the history of family cooking and blended style. The one-of-a-kind restrooms show subtle details with abstract magnolia wall graphics, subway tile walls, and a unique vanity mirror display.
